Little Progress: Two Pennsylvania Utilities Still Seeing Loss of Residential Shoppers
Copyright 2013 EnergyChoiceMatters.com.
Two Pennsylvania utilities are seeing a weekly decline in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply, but, and we're not sure if this is good news or bad news, the duo is not the same as the two which saw a decline in residential shopping in the prior week.
From about April 4 to April 10 (reporting date varies slightly by utility), PPL and West Penn Power both saw a decline in the number of residential accounts shopping. In the prior week, Duquesne Light and West Penn Power had seen a decline in residential shopping.
From about April 4 to April 10, the state, in aggregate, saw growth in residential shopping of only 2,900 accounts, a marginal improvement from the week-ago growth of 2,700 accounts.
Specifically, the weekly net growth (loss) in residential shoppers at each utility from April 4 to April 10 was as follows:
Duquesne Light 169 Met-Ed 1,319 PECO 1,121 Penelec 516 Penn Power 116 PPL (98) West Penn Power (199)
