Green Mountain to Offer Plan Bundled With Nest Thermostat in Four States

Green Mountain Energy announced that it is offering customers a 100% renewable electricity plan bundled with the Nest Learning Thermostat.

Parent NRG Energy said that the Nest Learning Thermostat learns about customers’ lifestyles to automatically adjust the temperature when they’re away and creates a personalized schedule based on temperature-change history. It also guides users to energy-efficient temperatures when they’re home, NRG said.

The plan provides the $249 Nest Learning Thermostat free to the customer and includes a fixed rate. Additionally, the plan includes a $50 voucher to Green Mountain’s Energy Saver online store of home energy-efficient products.

The 100% green Nest plan is available in Texas, Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania

In Texas, in both the Oncor and CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service areas, the plan includes an all-in average rate of 13.1 cents per kWh (at 1,000 kWh usage per month) fixed for 24 months. A $295 early cancellation fee applies.
