Broker-consultant 5 announced that Steve Williams has joined the firm. Williams has previously held positions at TXU, Gexa Energy and StarTex Power, and has a long history in telecom as well. 5 has also opened an office in Houston, the firm's second office in Texas (the first being in DFW)

Direct Energy Business Names New Hire

Direct Energy Business announced that Brian McGuirk has joined the company's demand response (360Direct) team. McGuirk was previously Manager of Demand Response Operations at ClearChoice, supporting more than 80 MW of demand response resources and 320 customers.

Texas Schedules Operating Reserves Demand Curve Workshop

The Public Utility Commission of Texas has scheduled for June 27 a workshop on the Interim Solution B+ proposal to improve real-time scarcity pricing and the backcast results.
