The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has approved the results of the fourth of five wholesale auctions that will ultimately determine Duke Energy Ohio's electric generation rates through May 2015.
The auction resulted in an average clearing price of $54.16 per megawatt hour. The delivery period for the 17 tranches procured through the auction is June 1, 2014 to May 31, 2015.
PUCO said that this clearing price will not immediately impact customer bills, but will be blended with prices received in December 2011, May 2012 and November 2012 auctions and one upcoming auction to determine the generation prices paid by default service customers from June 1, 2014 through May 31, 2015.
Ten suppliers registered for the auction, and four submitted winning bids.
The names of the winning suppliers will be released by PUCO on June 12, 2013.
