Retail Supplier BlueRock Energy Offering Real-Time Monitoring Device for Tracking Electricity Usage

Retail supplier BlueRock Energy, Inc. has begun offering an energy monitoring unit allowing customers to track usage in real-time.

The PowerCost monitor uses information from the customer’s electricity meter and monitors energy usage in dollars and kilowatt-hours in real time. Customers can use the appliance feature to see how much energy is being used by one appliance or light source.

BlueRock said that independent studies have shown that customers using PowerCost Monitor products can save up to 18 percent in energy consumption by turning their current energy usage patterns into energy saving practices.

BlueRock's standard online pricing for the PowerCost Monitor is $104.99, which represents a discount from the retail price. Additionally, business customers may receive a custom discount by working with a BlueRock account representative.

A PowerCost Monitor WiFi Gateway solution allows customers to track their usage online or through a Smartphone app. BlueRock's standard pricing for a package including the WiFi Gateway plus Monitor is listed at $199.99, with further discounts available for business customers by working with a BlueRock account representative

The PowerCost Monitor technology comes with two functional units, the sensor unit and the PowerCost Monitor. The sensor unit is affixed to the utility meter with a clamp mechanism, which attaches it to the outside of the meter glass. The PowerCost Monitor is kept inside the home or commercial building and receives a wireless signal from the transmitter and displays consumption in real time and in dollars and cents for the end user.

The PowerCost sensor unit is compatible with over 90% of meters deployed in North America including both traditional disk meters and newer digital meters
