TXU Energy announced today that it is offering time-based electric rates to small and mid-sized business customers in Texas.

Specifically, TXU Energy is offering customers half-off their energy charges, by choosing either Business Power Hours AM or Business Power Hours PM.

Business customers who choose Business Power Hours AM get half off their energy charges for eight full hours, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., every day. Business Power Hours PM offers half-off energy charges for eight full hours, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

TXU said that both plans provide a price-protected rate.

TXU said that the products are the latest in its "Right Time Pricing" products, which for residential customers, as first reported by Matters, also now includes Free Weekends, in addition to Free Nights. TXU also recently confirmed it will offer large C&I customers a critical peak rebate program.

With the new Business Power Hours plans, TXU said that it, "is the only retail electricity provider offering time-based savings opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses in Texas."

Given that standard (off-the-shelf) C&I pricing is not readily available from all suppliers, nor is the size (in terms of demand) of "medium-sized businesses" defined by TXU, Matters makes no averment regarding this statement.
