New President Named for Parent of Retail Supplier

Derek Porter has been named president of DPL Inc. (DPL) and The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), The AES Corporation announced. DPL Inc. is the ultimate parent of retail supplier DPL Energy Resources. Most recently, Porter led AES operations in Panama and previously led North American business development for AES. Phil Herrington will remain CEO of DPL and The Dayton Power and Light Company. He will assume additional responsibilities as chief operating officer of AES' U.S. Strategic Business Unit including Competitive Generation which operates and manages AES generating assets in the U.S.

Maine Sets New Standard Offer Rates

The Maine PUC set standard offer energy prices for the large non-residential classes in the service territories of Central Maine Power and Bangor Hydro-Electric for August 2013. The standard offer energy prices for August 2013 will be $0.053951/kWh for the CMP large class and $0.053856/kWh for the BHE large class. The total standard offer rate will include these energy charges plus the previously set capacity rate of $4.05223/kW-month for the CMP large class and $3.79000/kW-month for the BHE large class.

Retail Supplier Parents Among Strategic Partners of Energy Storage Firm

Eos Energy Storage announced partnerships with several energy companies, including competitive energy providers, aimed at accelerating profitable deployment of Eos's zinc hybrid cathode battery technology in highly reproducible applications on the electricity grid. Specifically, new strategic partners include NRG Energy and GDF SUEZ, in addition to National Grid, Enel, and Public Service Company of New Mexico. The in-depth collaboration entails business case evaluation, product development and optimization, and pilot demonstration of Eos's battery technology.
