RG&E, Affiliates Find Buyer for Utility, Affiliate Power Plants

Rochester Gas & Electric and an affiliate have found a buyer for two plants required to be divested under a New York PSC order. Specifically, Carthage Energy, LLC (Carthage), and Allegany Generating Station LLC (Allegany) sought FERC approval for (1) the transfer of 100% of the ownership interests in Carthage from Cayuga Energy, Inc., a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, Inc., to Alliance Energy, New York LLC (AENY); and, (2) Allegany’s acquisition of the RG&E Allegany generating station and related assets from Rochester Gas & Electric Corporation (RG&E). Allegany is a wholly-owned direct subsidiary AENY. AENY is a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of Alliance Energy Group, LLC. After closing of the proposed transaction, Carthage will also be a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of Alliance Energy Group. Carthage, a New York limited liability company, owns a 62.9 MW (nameplate) dual fuel (gas/oil) combined-cycle cogeneration facility located in Carthage, New York. RG&E's Allegany station is 67 MW (nameplate) gas-fired combined-cycle power plant located in the Town of Hume, New York.
