New York Updates Electric Migration Data, Shopping Stagnant (or Falling) in Most Territories

The New York PSC has posted electric migration data through April 2013.
Specifically, the PSC has now published shopping data for the months of February, March, and April 2013.
The most recent previously published stats had been from December 2012.

Notable in the stats is:
• During April 2013, only two utilities (ConEd, NiMo) saw residential migration growth (versus the March 2013 total) in excess of 1,000 accounts
• During the February-April 2013 period, two utilities (NiMo, Central Hudson) saw declining residential migration in at least one month
• NiMo saw a loss of 7,800 residential shoppers from February 2013 to March 2013
• ConEd residential migration growth slowed from over 10,000 for the two-month period of January 2013 and February 2013 to less than 3,000 per month in March and April.
As of April 2013, the percent of residential customers on competitive electric supply is:
Central Hudson 13.6% Consolidated Edison 26.1% Niagara Mohawk 18.9% NYSEG 24.9% Orange & Rockland 39.3% Rochester Gas & Electric 25.9%
