Texas Gov. Perry Makes Appointment to Public Utility Commission

Texas Gov. Rick Perry appointed Brandy Marty to the Public Utility Commission (PUC), effective immediately.

According to the Governor's office, the three-member PUC, "encourages competition and customer choice in Texas, and ensures electric and telephone operations, services and rates are fair and reasonable."

Marty most recently served as chief of staff for the Office of the Governor. She has also served as the governor's deputy chief of staff, director of the Budget, Planning and Policy Division, and as deputy legislative director as House liaison.

Marty was also policy director for the governor's 2010 primary campaign. She has previously served in several capacities working for elected officials within the House of Representatives.
