The Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council has announced a new agreement to supply its opt-out natural gas aggregation, including a new supplier and use of local shale gas.
Specifically, NOPEC announced a six-year agreement with NextEra Energy Services, Ohio LLC, to take effect in March 2014
NOPEC said that the agreement, "will mean an estimated savings of 50 to 60 cents per thousand cubic feet (Mcf) due to lower costs compared to today's delivered gas prices. Additional savings may also be realized by using more Ohio gas, with total potential savings estimated to be as much as a total of $1 per Mcf, based on expected Ohio gas production trends."
NOPEC has about 270,000 natural gas customers in 10 counties in Northeast Ohio, at Dominion East Ohio and Columbia Gas of Ohio
NextEra Energy Services will replace Dominion Energy Solutions as NOPEC's natural gas supplier
