Dollar General Piloting New Offering with Affiliate of Retail Supplier

Dollar General is piloting a new service offering as part of an agreement with Mansfield Oil.

Specifically, Dollar General has introduced its first fuel station, as part of a test pilot project, at the Dollar General Market in Hanceville, Alabama.

While a major retailer expanding into energy retailing (albeit petroleum rather than electricity or natural gas) would itself be noteworthy given potential diversification to the retailing of other energy commodities, the fact that Dollar General is working with Mansfield Oil is of particular interest, given that Mansfield Oil is sister company to a new retail energy supplier.

Mansfield Oil is a subsidiary of Mansfield Energy Corp. As only reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, Mansfield Energy Corp. recently launched a new subsidiary to market retail electricity and natural gas, Mansfield Power and Gas, LLC.

Dollar General and Mansfield will evaluate the results of the pilot fuel project over the next year and jointly assess expansion opportunities.
