ComEd Sees Anemic Residential Shopping Growth; Ameren Sees Shopping Decline in Two Territories

Commonwealth Edison saw anemic growth in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply during September, according to the latest stats on PlugIn Illinois.

Specifically, from August 31 to September 30, ComEd saw the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply (who had completed at least one billing cycle) increase by only 1,100 accounts, to a total of 2.331 million customers.

In contrast, from July 31 to August 31, residential shopping growth at ComEd had been about 20,000 accounts.

Two Ameren rate zones saw a decline in residential shopping during September.

From August 31 to September 30, Ameren Rate Zone III saw a decline of over 1,300 residential shoppers, and Ameren Rate Zone II saw a decline of 1,000 residential shoppers. This is in contrast to the month-ago growth of 3,600 accounts at Ameren Rate Zone III and 800 accounts at Ameren Rate Zone II.

From August 31 to September 30, Ameren Rate Zone I saw residential shopping increase by 4,000 accounts, versus the month-ago growth of 12,000 accounts.
