Michigan Utility: We're Offering, "Lowest Natural Gas Price Of Any Energy Provider In Michigan"

Consumers Energy issued a news release this morning stating that, "With the winter heating season starting, Consumers Energy has returned to its position of having the lowest natural gas price of any Michigan energy provider."

"We're not only delivering natural gas safely, but at the best price you'll find in Michigan," said Timothy Sparks, vice president of energy supply operations for Consumers Energy

Consumers said Michigan residents will pay $4.59 per thousand cubic feet of natural gas as of Nov. 1. "That is 14 cents below the next-lowest cost charged by the state's six other major natural gas providers," Consumers said (emphasis added)

Consumers did not specifically cite these "six other major natural gas providers", but presumably means the state's six largest natural gas distribution utilities (such as MichCon, SEMCO, and Michigan Gas Utilities, plus smaller LDCs).

As seen from the quotes, Consumers only qualified in a single instance its statement that its gas cost was the lowest when measured against the big-6.
