Updated to include Default REPs for specific customer classes.

As first reported Friday morning, Sharyland Utilities has posted a list of retail electric providers which will be assigned customers who do not make a choice of REP prior to the introduction of retail choice to the former Cap Rock service areas on or about May 1, 2014.

Information made available after our original story was published further delineated the Default REPs by the specific customer classes they will serve

The default REPs for the Sharyland Stanton, Colorado City, Brady, and Celeste divisions are as follows:

Residential Class
Ambit Energy
Champion Energy Services
Cirro Energy
Gexa Energy
Green Mountain
Reliant Energy Retail Services
TXU Energy Retail Company

Small Non-Residential Class
Ambit Energy
Champion Energy Services
Cirro Energy
Gexa Energy
Green Mountain
Reliant Energy Retail Services
TXU Energy Retail Company

Medium Non-Residential Class
Champion Energy Services
Cirro Energy
Gexa Energy
MidAmerican Energy Company
Reliant Energy Retail Services
TXU Energy Retail Company

Large Non-Residential Class
Champion Energy Services
Gexa Energy
MidAmerican Energy Company
Reliant Energy Retail Services
TXU Energy Retail Company

See prior story for details on a market-share-based random assignment process for allocating non-shopping customers to Default REPs

Default REPs are required to serve assigned customers on a market-based, month-to-month product that allows customers the ability to select a REP and switch away from the Default REP without penalty

A prior PUCT order is extending electric choice to some 44,000 customers in Sharyland's Stanton, Colorado City, Brady, and Celeste divisions on May 1, 2014, or 90 days after Sharyland files its tariffs to implement the final Commission order approving unbundled delivery rates for those divisions, whichever is later. By the time retail choice begins, all of those divisions will be within the ERCOT interconnection.
