Sonoma Clean Power, a California community choice aggregation, said that it has signed a primary electric supply contract with Constellation.
Sonoma Clean Power said that the contract provides at least 70% of supply from carbon free sources at a rate that is below PG&E's proposed rate for 2014.
The contract, for about 85% of the aggregation's requirements, has been valued at $70 million for the first phase of the aggregation, which will include about 20,000 commercial customers, to be launched in May 2014.
Sonoma Clean Power is in negotiations with Calpine to supply the remaining 15% of requirements, to be sourced from Calpine's Geysers geothermal generation. Sonoma withheld disclosing the Constellation rate pending final negotiation with Calpine.
