The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio is "almost ready" to launch a new website focusing solely on electric and natural gas choice in Ohio.
The site will include revamped Apples to Apples energy choice comparison charts, which will include a filtering system.
The new Apples to Apples will also allow users, as they are browsing offers, to individually select a few offers to compare, with then only those selected offers listed for an easier comparison.
Apples to Apples will also now include small commercial offers, in addition to residential offers.
According to a screenshot, the new Apples to Apples charts will have columns for price, product type (fixed/variable), renewable content, whether there is an introductory price, term length, early termination fee, monthly fee, and promotional offers.
The main objective of the new site is to educate consumers about energy choice in Ohio.
Information to be included on the site include answers to What is Energy Choice, What is Aggregation (both opt-in and opt-out), and Why Switch. Additionally, an FAQ section addresses who customers should call for an outage, whether all utilities in Ohio have choice, and what happens if a customer terminates their contract early.
The site will also include a list of questions to ask suppliers prior to enrollment.
The new site should be live in 30-45 days.
