Gulf Oil LP has entered the commercial and industrial fuel supply business, and Gulf's business lines in this sector will eventually include electricity and natural gas supply.
Through Gulf Electricity, Gulf Oil currently offers electricity to residential and small business customers in six Northeast states.
In contrast, the new fuel supply business will focus on commercial and industrial customers.
While initially the focus will be on gasoline and diesel, Walter F. Brickowski, Senior Vice President of Unbranded Marketing for Gulf Oil, confirmed to EnergyChoiceMatters.com that under the new C&I business, "We will be offering LNG/CNG in the future and also electricity at a later stage."
"As the markets change to price advantages on fuel demand, Gulf Oil will look to provide supply of LNG/CNG to commercial and industrial customers in the future, as this will be a natural progression to their current energy portfolios," Brickowski said.
"Gulf is in the residential and small C&I [retail electric] business in various New England states now [plus New York starting just last month], that business will continue to expand along with a natural gas offering," Brickowski said.
The day-to day-operations of Gulf's new commercial and industrial supply business will be led by industry veteran Douglas Moore, who is joining Gulf Oil LP from Hess Corporation, where he most recently served as nationwide manager of motor fuels and energy marketing. Moore's 25-year career with Hess included growing and managing what became one of the largest commercial and industrial fuel supply operations in the nation.
Gulf Oil currently has Gulf Oil branded fuel operations in 30 states across the country.
