Report: Demand Response Interest By Middle-Market Companies Tepid; Participation Much Lower

A 2013 survey of 1,254 middle-market companies conducted by the Energy Research Council (ERC) found that only 28% are extremely or very interested in demand response, while another 42% were moderately or a little interested. Only 9% of respondents currently take advantage of demand response programs. An earlier 2012 ERC survey of middle-market companies had identified a lack of awareness and education as a significant barrier to demand response participation. The majority of the 2012 survey respondents reported they were only somewhat familiar (34%) or not at all familiar (46%) with demand response services. Link to Energy Research Council report

EDF Renewable Acquires Texas Generation

EDF Renewable today announced the acquisition of the 194 MW Spinning Spur 3 Wind Project, located in Oldham County, Texas, from Cielo Wind Power LP. Commercial operation is expected by the end of 2015, with output provided to two municipal utilities, Georgetown Utility Systems and Garland Power & Light, under long-term power purchase agreements. EDF expects its Texas wind portfolio to exceed 1 GW of installed capacity by the end of 2015.
