TXU Now Offering $50 Monthly Credit to High Usage Customers

TXU has begun offering Texas electric customers a product which pays high usage customers a credit of up to $50 per month.

Residential customers receive a $50 bill credit for months in which usage reaches 1,200 kWh. A $25 bill credit will be applied if monthly usage reaches 800 kWh, but does not reach 1,200 kWh. Business customers receive a $50 bill credit for months in which usage reaches 800 kWh.

Specifically, for residential customers, the $25/$50 bill credit is offered in connection with TXU's monthly saver 18-month fixed rate.

In the Oncor service area, TXU's monthly saver 18-month fixed plan has an average all-in rate of 12.2¢/kWh at 1,000 kWh monthly usage (reflecting an energy charge of 10.8¢/kWh plus TDU charges).

In the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service area, TXU's monthly saver 18-month fixed plan has an average all-in rate of 13.4¢/kWh at 1,000 kWh monthly usage (reflecting an energy charge of 11.4¢/kWh plus TDU charges).

The monthly saver 18-month fixed plan includes a $295 early termination fee.

TXU also offers a plan providing a discounted volumetric energy charge for higher usage, rather than a bill credit.

For example, at Oncor, TXU's e-saver 12-month fixed plan includes an energy charge of 7.0¢/kWh for usage 0-1,000 kWh, and an energy charge of 4.6¢/kWh for usage above 1,000 kWh, plus TDU charges, plus a $6.95 monthly base charge. This works out to an average all-in rate of 10.8¢/kWh with an autopay discount, at 1,000 kWh monthly usage.
