New Retail Supplier Offering Nest Thermostat

Direct Energy has begun offering to customers in Alberta a plan which includes a Nest Learning Thermostat at no additional charge.

Specifically, Direct Energy is bundling the Nest Learning Thermostat with its 5-Year Comfort & Control Dual Fuel Price Plan offered in Alberta.

For customers in the Calgary area, the 5-Year Comfort & Control Dual Fuel Price Plan includes a fixed electric rate of 8.59¢/kWh (all $ Canadian), and an indexed natural gas rate, which floats with the current natural gas market price plus $2.00/GJ subject to a cap. The natural gas price is capped, during November through March each year, at $5.99/GJ

There is also a monthly administrative fee of $9.00 ($4.50 for each meter, gas and electric, which is a savings of 50% versus the standard fee).

The Nest Learning Thermostat included at no additional charge is a $249 value.

A $200 Device Cost Recovery Fee will be charged for early cancellation.
