Ohio Start-up Focused on Customer-Sited Projects Seeks Retail Supplier License

Empower Gas & Electric LLC, an Ohio-based start-up, has applied for an Ohio electric supplier license as a power marketer, power broker, and aggregator.
Empower Gas & Electric applied to serve all customer classes in all service areas.
Among other things, Empower Gas & Electric will focus on developing energy projects, both behind the meter and interconnected to the grid, and financing energy projects, both through direct and third-party ownership.
Members of Empower Gas & Electric include David Wilhelm and David Milenthal
Wilhelm is the founder of two venture capital funds designed to bring investment dollars to underserved regions of the Midwest and Appalachia. Wilhelm has also served as Chief Strategy Officer of Hecate Energy, leading the development of a 50 MW solar array in Ohio.
Milenthal is the founder of what is now Engauge, a marketing services firm now owned by Publicis.
Patricia Shorr serves as Finance Director for Empower Gas & Electric. Shorr has more than 25 years of experience facilitating financial and project advisory services to wind and solar energy developers, and founded Spectrum Capital Energy, LLC, a firm providing financial and development consulting services to renewable energy developers.
Daniel Gray serves as Operations Director for Empower Gas & Electric. Gray currently serves as a business and utility consultant for an advanced energy law firm based in Columbus, Ohio.
