PECO Actually Sees (Infinitesimal) Increase in Residential Shopping, Other Utilities See Loss

The loss of residential electric shoppers at PECO abated for at least a week, but continued at the other six major utilities, according to the latest stats from the Pennsylvania PUC

The Pennsylvania retail electric market lost nearly 4,800 residential customers on competitive supply from about April 17 to April 23. This is an improvement from the week-ago loss of nearly 6,500 residential shoppers.

From about April 17 to April 23 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) the weekly change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply was:

Duquesne Light         (850)
Met-Ed                 (646)
PECO                      5
Penelec                (753)
Penn Power              (23)
PPL                  (1,433)
West Penn Power      (1,062)

For comparison, the weekly change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply from about April 10 to April 16 at each utility was:

Duquesne Light         (867)
Met-Ed                 (856)
PECO                   (306)
Penelec                (746)
Penn Power              (50)
PPL                  (2,047)
West Penn Power      (1,587)
