TXU Energy has extended the hours during which it is offering a 0¢/kWh charge under its Free Nights plans.
Under TXU's original design for the Free Nights plans, the hours with a 0¢ kWh charge were 10:00 p.m. through 5:59 a.m. each day.
TXU has added one hour to the free period, with a 0¢ kWh charge now applying from 9:00 p.m. through 5:59 a.m. each day.
TXU's Free Nights plan is a three-tier Time of Use product, which includes a monthly base charge, a pass-through of TDU flat charges, a pass-through of TDU volumetric charges during non-free hours, and the time-based energy charge.
The Time of Use periods are:
• Mornings: From 6:00 a.m. through 1:59 p.m. each day
• Evenings: From 2:00 p.m. through 8:59 p.m. each day
• Nights: From 9:00 p.m. through 5:59 a.m. each day
For the 24-month Free Nights product in the Oncor area, the time-based energy charge is 16.2¢/kWh morning and evening hours, and 0¢/kWh for night hours. The all-in average rate for 1,000 kWh is listed as 14.7¢/kWh.
For the 24-month product in the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric area, the time-based energy charge is 15.8¢/kWh for morning and evening hours, and 0¢/kWh for night hours. The all-in average rate for 1,000 kWh is listed as 15.4¢/kWh.
The base charge for each product is $9.95 per month.
An early termination fee of $295 applies to each product.
The average price per kWh is based on an average annual usage profile with approximately 30% of electricity usage occurring during Night Hours. Customers must have an AMS-enabled smart meter installed and provisioned at their premise.
