How Many Residential Customers Have Left Competitive Electric Supply in Maryland This Year?

The Maryland retail electric market saw a net loss of 18,000 residential electric customers on competitive supply from December 31, 2013 to May 31, 2014, according to stats published by the PSC.

As of May 31, 2014, 511,000 Maryland residential electric customers were on competitive supply at the four investor-owned utilities.

This compares to 529,000 residential shoppers as of December 31, 2013.

Of the decline, 11,000 residential shoppers were lost at BGE, and 4,600 residential shoppers were lost at Pepco.

Maryland is still seeing a monthly decline in statewide residential shopping, with a decline of 4,600 residential shoppers from April to May, with all utilities individually seeing a decline in residential migration as well.

The number of residential electric customers taking competitive supply at each utility as of May 31, 2014 is:
