NOPEC Selects Retail Supplier For New Aggregation At Ohio Power

NOPEC has selected a retail supplier to supply its first municipal electric aggregation in the Ohio Power (AEP Ohio) service area.
In a filing with PUCO, NOPEC disclosed that it has entered into a firm full-requirements retail electric supply agreement under which NextEra Energy Services, Ohio, LLC will provide electric supply to NOPEC's governmental aggregation programs in Ohio Power Company's service territory for a 34-month period, from August 1, 2015 through May 31, 2018.
For NOPEC's initial aggregation member at Ohio Power, the City of Tiffin, NOPEC sought a waiver to offer a price for the 10-month period of August 1, 2015 through May 31, 2016, stating that this would align pricing with the PJM delivery year and SSO pricing periods, and that due to logistics of the opt-out process, it cannot commence the initial pricing term on June 1, 2015.
PUCO rules require aggregation prices to be in effect for at least 12 months.
Successive 12-month pricing would be in effect for June 1, 2016 through May 31, 2017, and from June 1, 2017 through May 31, 2018.
