The Pennsylvania State University applied for a Pennsylvania electric broker/marketer license to serve governmental customers in all service areas.

In its application, Penn State wrote, "The Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute intends to engage in business in Pennsylvania as a Broker/Marketer in the business of supplying selection and procurement services to governmental entities."

"The Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI) has provided facility-engineering support to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 1947. Over the past 20 years, PSFEI has grown by staying at the forefront of educational and energy trends as they relate to the customers of the Commonwealth and the federal government. Since its inception, one of the cornerstones of PSFEI services has been to provide services related to conservation of energy and saving money on energy procurement," Penn State said
