Various NRG Energy subsidiaries filed at FERC for approval to acquire ownership and control of an approximately 77 MW combustion turbine generating unit at Chalk Point Generating Station in Prince George’s County, Maryland and certain associated assets.

The facility is currently owned by Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, Inc. and controlled by an NRG subsidiary under lease arrangements with SMECO.

NRG also owns and operates the remaining units at the Chalk Point Generating Station, which consist of coal-, natural gas- and oil- fired generation units with an aggregate capacity of approximately 2,280 MW (summer rating).
