NEC Retail is offering customers a community-shared solar solution through a partnership with Clean Energy Collective
Any NEC Retail residential or commercial member can purchase 100-Watt panels in Clean Energy Collective's shared array outside of Orange Grove, Texas to offset their electric usage charges. CEC's software will automatically track each member's power generation and integrate into NEC billing system to provide monthly on-bill credits
Each month, the customer's electric bill will be credited for the power produced by the customer's panels in the previous month at an initial $0.096/kWh. This credit rate adjusts annually to match the price of energy, but the bill credit rate will not fall below $0.096/kWh.
According to an FAQ, the initial purchase price is $396 per panel. After the Federal Tax Credit (-30%), the effective cost per panel will be $277.
Systems are available from a minimum of one panel up to 120 percent of the customer's average monthly electric usage (kWh).
