"Baltimore Power Company" Seeks Retail Supplier Licenses

Baltimore Power Company LLC applied for Maryland electric and natural gas retail supplier licenses, as a supplier/marketer, broker, and aggregator.

Baltimore Power Company is an affiliate of Massie Power LLC, which is licensed as an electric supplier and aggregator in Virginia

Baltimore Power Company LLC states in its Maryland electric supplier application that it, "is a Maryland-based company formed in June 2015 to introduce residential and commercial energy consumers, particularly energy consumers located in distressed census tracts, to the power of choice."

"BPC will focus its marketing and sales efforts on energy consumers located in census tracts with: (a) poverty rates greater than 25%; (b) median family income that does not exceed 70% of the greater of the statewide median family income or the Metropolitan Area median family income; or (c) unemployment rates at least 1.25 times the national average," the company stated

Baltimore Power Company LLC is owned and controlled by Karl Malloy, a financier, lawyer, and entrepreneur. Malloy is the Senior Advisor to Harbor Bankshares Corporation ("HBC") where he manages one of the largest proprietary allocations of tax credit authority granted by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

In its electric application, the company applied to serve all customer classes in all service areas.
