The New York PSC has extended the comment period for issues related to electric choice on Long Island, due to the ongoing collaborative process addressing the broader February 23 retail market reset order
Originally, comments on Long Island electric choice were due by April 1, 2016 and with reply comments due by May 1, 2016
The Retail Energy Supply Association had sought an extension of the deadline until June 1, 2016 or 30 days following resolution of the matters raised in the retail market reset order. RESA said it would be premature to address electric choice issues on Long Island before clarity is provided on various issues raised in the reset order.
The PSC said that, "The Department seeks to strengthen retail electric markets on Long Island, however, correction of market abuses and addition of important consumer protections must be incorporated in any action taken on Long Island."
"To this end, the comment period established in the Long Island participatory process is extended to June 1, 2016, and the period for reply comments is extended up to July 1, 2016 to provide adequate opportunity for parties wishing to address the topics included in the [reset] Order, as part of their comments in the Long Island participatory process," the PSC said
The PSC invited stakeholders to include in their Long Island comments any comments responsive to the questions previously issued in tandem with the reset order.
