Direct Energy Extends Hive Smart Thermostat Bundle To All Its U.S. Markets (9 New States, Includes New York)

Direct Energy is extending its Connect to Comfort 24 Plan, which includes a Hive smart thermostat and subscription plan, to both natural gas and electricity customers in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and the District of Columbia.
With Connect to Comfort 24, customers will receive the Hive Heating & Cooling plan with the Hive Active Thermostat
In the Consolidated Edison (Zone J) electric service area in New York, Direct's Connect to Comfort 24 Plan, with Hive, includes a 24-month fixed rate of 10.49¢/kWh. A device recovery fee of $150 per Hive Active Thermostat applies if the agreement is cancelled during the initial term
As previously reported, the Direct Energy Connect to Comfort 24 Plan was initially launched with offers for residential customers in Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

Connected Home is a key area for growth for Direct's parent company Centrica plc, with a £500m investment to take its Hive brand multi-market. "With over 500,000 customers in the UK, the Hive experience is a leading smart home solution, with more than half of customers using their Hive Active Thermostat at least once daily in the winter, and 75 percent of customers recommended it to others," Direct Energy said
