Pennsylvania Sees Spike In Residential Customers Leaving Retail Supply; Largest Decline Since August

Pennsylvania saw a large decrease in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply during May
From late April to late May (reporting date varies slightly by utility), Pennsylvania saw the statewide aggregate number of residential customers on competitive supply decrease by over 12,000 accounts. That compares to an aggregate net decline of 4,600 residential customers on competitive supply from late March to late April.
The net decline of 12,000 residential shoppers during May was the highest monthly decline since a decline of 14,000 residential shoppers in August of 2017
During May, Duquesne Light continued to be the only utility among the seven largest EDCs to see an increase in the number of customers on residential supply
PPL, which had during April seen essentially flat customer residential migration, saw a net decline of 2,000 residential shoppers during May
The change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late April 2018 to late May 2018 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:
