Six One Commodities LLC (Six One) announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire retail energy supplier Great American Gas & Electric (GAGE), from Link Growth Advisers, LLC (Link).

Six One said that, upon closing, GAGE will become part of Six One’s expanding energy platform.

In describing the strategic rationale for the transaction, Six One emphasized its acquisition of GAGE's employees, sales channels, and infrastructure as driving Six One's growth and enhanced offerings.

"The transaction represents an integral step in the growth of Six One’s retail and integrated energy capabilities. GAGE’s employees, sales channels, and infrastructure, together with Six One’s existing retail platform, are expected to support the continued buildout of Six One’s North American retail energy business. The combination is expected to enhance GAGE’s and Six One’s ability to serve commercial and industrial customers through an expanded offering of physical supply, structured products, and market intelligence," Six One said.

"GAGE is a strong strategic fit for Six One and an important step in the continued expansion of our retail and integrated energy platform," said Joe Limone, Chief Legal Officer at Six One. "We are excited to welcome the GAGE team and build on the company’s strong foundation. Together, we believe we can deliver greater value to customers through a broader combination of physical supply, structured products, and market insight."

Jeffrey Levin, CEO of GAGE, stated, "We are pleased that Six One has chosen GAGE as a platform to augment its retail energy business. We believe that the combination of these complementary portfolios will create a world-class organization focused on serving our customers’ and broker relationships."

Puneet Sanan, President of Link and a member of GAGE, added, "We thank the GAGE management team for their vision and leadership in building a differentiated technology-driven retail energy marketer from the ground up over the past six years. We could not have chosen a better partner."

The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.

As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, Six One last year acquired Tomorrow Energy Corp.
