Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley has asked the PSC to expand the current capacity RFP to include other types of generation aside from gas-fired assets, and to allow utility-owned generation to submit proposals (9214, 9/30 )

Pepco and Delmarva Power have informed the Maryland PSC that they may petition for reconsideration of PSC's decision to issue an RFP for up to 1,500 MW of new generation under long-term contracts, stating that the PSC should consider utility-built generation to meet any identified capacity needs.

The issuance of an RFP for new generation, "is in the best interest of Maryland ratepayers and may promote the long-term electric reliability of the State," the Maryland PSC concluded yesterday in an order issuing an RFP for up to 1,500 MW (Case 9214).
