The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
The conditionally bypassable billing fee for non-residential electric customers at Duke Energy Ohio would be further reduced under a filed update to Duke's electricity Rider UE-GEN, which recovers uncollectibles related to generation service
Rider UE-GEN is bypassable for shopping customers not served under Duke's purchase of receivables program. Shopping customers billed under POR must pay Rider UE-GEN, as must SSO customers
Notably, for non-residential customers, Duke is updating Rider UE-GEN to be a charge of $0.04 per bill, a further reduction from the current charge of $0.24 per bill established in March 2026, and the prior Rider UE-GEN non-residential charge of $1.66 per bill
For residential customers, Duke filed to set Rider UE-GEN as a credit of ($0.000704) per kWh, versus the current charge of $0.000897 per kWh
Duke filed for the updates to Rider UE-GEN to be effective on November 2, 2026 (effective for bills rendered beginning with the first billing cycle in November 2026).
