Branded Retail Energy & Champion Offering Fighting Illini Energy at both ComEd, Ameren

Branded Retail Energy has expanded its branded affinity programs outside of Texas with an agreement with the University of Illinois to offer Fighting Illini Energy, which will offer residential service at both Commonwealth Edison and Ameren.
Branded Retail Energy had previously tipped Illinois as a near-term expansion market, and also, as only noted in Matters, has a pending application for a Pennsylvania broker license (12/29)
As with its Texas programs, Branded Retail Energy will offer supply from Champion Energy Services.
Current rates are:
ComEd:
12 Month Fixed: 7.12 cents/kWh
12 Month Fixed 100% Renewable: 7.25 cents/kWh
24 Month Fixed: 7.22 cents/kWh
24 Month Fixed 100% Renewable: 7.35 cents/kWh
Ameren:
12 Month Fixed: 6.10 cents/kWh
12 Month Fixed 100% Renewable: 6.20 cents/kWh
24 Month Fixed: 6.30 cents/kWh
24 Month Fixed 100% Renewable: 6.40 cents/kWh
Each product includes an early termination fee equal to $10 per month remaining on the contract. Notably, Champion's website does not yet offer service to residential customers at Ameren outside of the Fighting Illini Energy program.
Fighting Illini Energy will make a flat, monthly payment per customer to the University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. Fighting Illini Energy committed to contribute $500,000 to the university in its initial year.
Fighting Illini Energy customers will have an exclusive opportunity to receive game tickets, special offers on Illini gear, access to special promotions and more. Additionally, Fighting Illini Energy is offering $100 for customer referrals.
