TXU Loses 32,000 Residential Customers During First Quarter

TXU Energy lost a net of 32,000 residential customers during the first quarter of the year, parent Energy Future Holdings disclosed in a 10-Q filed this morning.
TXU's residential customer count as of March 31, 2011 was 1.739 million, versus 1.771 million as of December 31, 2010, and 1.849 million as of March 31, 2010.
The net churn of 32,000 residential customers was essentially steady versus the two most recent sequential quarters (the net residential loss was 29,000 during the last three months of 2010, and 30,000 from June 30, 2010 to September 30, 2010).
TXU's small business (< 1 MW) customer count stood at 208,000 as of March 31, 2011, versus 217,000 as of December 31, 2010. The net attrition of 9,000 small business customers compares to net attrition of 11,000 customers during the last three months of 2010.
The small business customer count as of March 31, 2010 was 250,000.
TXU's large business customer count as of March 31, 2011 was 22,000, an increase versus 20,000 as of December 31, 2010, but flat versus the year-ago period.
Total customer count was 1.969 million as of March 31, 2011, versus 2.008 million as of December 31, 2010 and 2.121 million a year ago.
