Start-up Ardent Natural Gas Seeks Michigan License
Start-up Ardent Natural Gas LLC applied for a Michigan alternate natural gas supplier license. Ardent Natural Gas is led by President and CEO John W. Calhoun III. Although a resume was filed under separate cover with the Michigan PSC and not publicly available, a John W. Calhoun of Atlanta, where Ardent Natural Gas is based, served as Vice President at EDF Trading, Lehman Brothers, and Eagle Energy Partners, and as a Senior Director at Dynegy.
Sustainable Star Delaware License Expanded to Include Retail Supply Service
Sustainable Star, LLC's Delaware electric license has been expanded to include "Retail Electric Supply service," in addition to brokering services, to large commercial, industrial, and governmental customers.
TexRep6 Seeks to Change Name, Add Smart Power Trade Name
TexRep6, LLC, which is owned by Smartcom Energy Technologies, LLC, has filed at the PUCT to change its certificated name to Smartcom Energy Services, LLC, and to use the trade names "Smart Power" and "Smartcom Energy." TexRep6 will also delete the d/b/a of Illumination Power, LLC. Current trade names in use in the ERCOT market include Smart Prepaid Electric (Tara Energy) and Smartpay Power (StarTex).
Elan Energy Seeks to Withdraw REP Certificate
ESCO1 LLC d/b/a Elan Energy, LLC sought to relinquish its Texas REP certificate. ESCO1 has never served any customers or commenced Texas operations. As previously reported, PUCT Staff has sought revocation of the certificate alleging that Elan Energy failed to maintain financial resources in accordance with Subst. R. 25.107, and has not provided retail electric service to customers within 24 months of certification as required by the Substantive Rules (8/9).
