The PUCT yesterday assigned Docket 39885 for a project to modify the retail electric provider application and amendment form. No filings had been made in the project as of press time.

Cirro Energy Launches Mobile Website

Cirro Energy has launched a new mobile website, allowing users with smartphones and tablets to, among other things, report an outage, view available plans, or contact Cirro. Additionally, customers with an online My Cirro account will be able to receive customized account alerts, review renewal plan options, make bill payments, view electricity usage graphs, and review account history.

Direct Energy Closes First Choice Power Acquisition

Direct Energy has closed on its previously reported acquisition of First Choice Power for $270 million in cash, plus additional working capital. The transaction increases Direct's customer book by more than 220,000. First Choice Power will continue serving its customers under the First Choice Power brand, and terms of existing pricing plans will stay the same, Direct said. Steven Murray, President, Direct Energy Residential said that, "This acquisition reinforces our presence in Texas, while expanding our small commercial and rural customer base across the state."
