Sharyland Choice Expansion to Proceed to Hearings

Sharyland Utilities, along with other parties to the proceeding, has requested that the PUCT refer to the State Office of Administrative Hearings Sharyland's application to introduce retail choice to four of its service areas which do not currently have choice, after parties were not able to reach settlement (see 7/14). Sharyland asked for an expeditious preliminary order in light of its desired start date for choice of January 1, 2014 and steps which need to be completed before then (39592). Sharyland's petition would expand choice to about 44,000 new customers.

Bueller? GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA Lunch Features Ben Stein

GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA, will hold a "Power Lunch" November 15 in New York City for commercial, industrial, and institutional customers featuring commentator Ben Stein. Stein will address the topic, "Can the United States Survive?" Stein, who has held a variety of positions as a political commentator after working as a economist at the Department of Commerce, lawyer at the Federal Trade Commission, and speechwriter in the Nixon White House, is perhaps best known for his role as a droning economics teacher in the 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Boralex Sells Wood-Fired Assets

Boralex Inc. has signed a binding agreement to sell its U.S. wood-residue power stations with a total installed capacity of 186 MW to ReEnergy Holdings LLC for approximately $93 million (subject to customary working capital closing adjustments), or after-tax proceeds of about $81 million. The transaction includes a 20-megawatt facility in Chateaugay, NY (Franklin County); a 40-megawatt facility in Ashland, ME; a 36-megawatt facility in Fort Fairfield, ME; a 40-megawatt facility in Livermore Falls, ME; and a 50-megawatt facility in Stratton, ME.
