FERC Approves AES-DPL Merger

FERC yesterday approved the acquisition of DPL Inc. by the AES Corporation. DPL Inc. is the parent of retail suppliers DPL Energy Resources and MC Squared Energy Services, which are currently active in Ohio and Illinois. AES owns competitive generation in New York, as well as other states including California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Texas (though the generation outside New York is in many cases a QF or otherwise sold under legacy long-term contracts).
