WGES, 3Degrees Named DOE Green Power Suppliers of the Year

Washington Gas Energy Services and 3Degrees were each named Non-Utility Green Power Supplier of the Year by the U.S. Department of Energy. Winning organizations were evaluated on criteria such as: total annual renewable energy sales, number of customers served, market impact, resources and technologies used, and overall value provided to customer participants. According to DOE, more than 13,000 residential customers and almost 3,600 commercial customers currently purchase WGES CleanSteps WindPower. WGES said that from 2009 to 2010, the company's wind power load reflecting customers' voluntary selection (e.g. excluding state mandates) increased by 253%. In the past three years, WGES has further expanded its green energy portfolio to include commercial solar projects and natural gas products matched with carbon offsets.
