Flash: Direct Energy Reports PPL Customer Count

Direct Energy reported this morning its residential customer count at PPL, as well as its business customer count for all of Pennsylvania.

Direct Energy made the disclosure in announcing its previously reported sponsorship of The Harrisburg Holiday Parade, which saved the parade from cancellation due to the city's ongoing fiscal condition (11/4).

Direct Energy said in a news release issued this morning that, "Direct Energy has 3,000 business customers in the state of Pennsylvania, and serves almost 53,000 residential customers in the PPL utility territory (which covers Harrisburg) alone."

It was not immediately clear if these totals include all customers served by any Direct Energy subsidiary (e.g. including Gateway Energy Services), or are only those customers served under the Direct Energy brand itself. Confirmation was not available by press time.
