Direct Energy Moving Corporate Office to Houston

Direct Energy announced that it will move its corporate head office to Houston, Texas.

The company, whose corporate offices have been located in Toronto, Ontario since 2000, expects the relocation to be completed in the next 12 to 18 months.

"The relocation of our Corporate head office to Houston will allow us to focus our attention on growth opportunities in the U.S. where competitive energy markets are thriving, particularly in Texas and the U.S. Northeast region," said Chris Weston, President and CEO of Direct Energy. "Over the last decade, Direct Energy has successfully pursued both acquisitive and organic growth in the U.S., entering more than 20 new markets in the last 12 months, and we will continue this strategy into 2012."

Direct Energy's Residential Energy and Upstream and Trading businesses are currently based in Houston and the company has more than 2,000 employees across Texas.

"The relocation of Direct Energy's headquarters in no way affects the company's commitment to customers in Ontario, who will continue to be supported by a large employee base in the province, and more broadly across Canada," Direct Energy said.

Direct Energy said that its customers in Ontario will experience no disruption or change to their services or products as a result of the announcement. Direct Energy's Services, Commodity Sales and Upstream Energy operations in Alberta and other provinces in Canada will also be unaffected.
