EDF Withdraws Opposition to Merger Under Agreement with Constellation-Exelon
Exelon Corporation and Constellation Energy announced this morning that they have reached an agreement with Electricite de France (EDF) under which EDF will withdraw its opposition to the Exelon-Constellation merger. Specifics were not immediately available, but the companies said that the terms address Constellation Energy Nuclear Group (CENG), a joint venture between Constellation and EDF that owns and operates three nuclear facilities with five generating units in Maryland and New York. The agreement reaffirms the terms of the joint venture. No payment was made by either party associated with this agreement.
Constellation Lowers Illinois Pricing
Constellation has lowered residential electric pricing at both ComEd and Illinois. Rates at Ameren are now 5.19 cents per kWh for 24 months fixed, and 5.69 cents per kWh for 12 months fixed. Standard rates at ComEd are now 6.39 cents per kWh for 24 months fixed, and 6.99 cents per kWh for 12 months fixed (renewable products are also available).
