From September 30 to December 31, Toledo Edison saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply decline by nearly 5,100 accounts. It's the second consecutive quarter that Toledo Edison has seen the number of residential customers on competitive supply decrease; though the decline is an improvement from the loss of 10,000 residential shoppers seen from June 30, 2011 to September 30, 2011.
The two other FirstEnergy distribution companies reversed the loss of residential competitive supply customers seen from June 30, 2011 to September 30, 2011. Residential shopping growth was modest at Cleveland Electric Illuminating (+649 from September 30 to December 31), but Ohio Edison saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply grow by 3,400 accounts from September 30 to December 31.
AEP Ohio's Columbus Southern Power and Ohio Power territories saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply grow by 24,000 accounts and 18,000 accounts, respectively, from September 30 to December 31. It's the first significant shopping in the residential class at Ohio Power, which had fewer than 1,000 migrated residential customers as of September 30.
In comparison, from June 30 to September 30, the AEP Ohio utilities had seen either a modest increase or decrease in residential shopping.
Dayton Power & Light saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply increase by 21,000 from September 30 to December 31 (about even with the growth from June 30 to September 30), while residential shopping growth at Duke Energy Ohio was 6,600 accounts from September 30 to December 31 (up from growth of 2,800 from June 30 to September 30).
