Ohio Renewable Report Cites Long-Term Contracts as Policy Alternative

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has posted for comment (12-1100-EL-UNC) a Staff draft Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard report, which incorporated a NARUC Alternative Energy Resource Market Assessment. A final report will later be presented to lawmakers. The NARUC assessment is notable as it addresses five policy approaches, including long-term contracting, in promoting renewable energy development, "all or some of which may potentially be useful for consideration in Ohio," Staff said, though no specific recommendations with respect to long-term contracts were contained in the draft report.
