Constellation Energy to Phase-Out MXenergy Brand

Constellation Energy will cease using the MXenergy brand effective June 1, the company confirmed to Matters today.

The rebranding of MXenergy, which Constellation acquired last year, to "Constellation Energy" or "Constellation" will occur in all MXenergy markets.

Additionally, the legal entity MXenergy Inc. will become Constellation Energy Gas Choice, Inc., and the legal entity MXenergy Electric Inc. will become Constellation Energy Power Choice, Inc.

"We are pleased to welcome MXenergy customers to the Constellation brand and offer them our trusted customer service and reliability. MXenergy customers began receiving letters notifying them of the brand change in late April. Customers will continue to receive the same terms, conditions and rates," Constellation told Matters in a statement.

The change means that approximately half a million MXenergy customers in 15 states will receive their customer care from Constellation, Constellation said.

In ERCOT, as only reported by Matters, Constellation had already elected to transition MXenergy's post-pay customers to affiliate StarTex Power, which Constellation also acquired last year (story here and follow-up here).
