The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has posted natural gas migration data as of March 31, 2012, and now breaks out Standard Choice Offer customers versus shopping customers in several service areas.

This is the first migration report where the number of customers served on competitive supply has been broken down by whether the customer is on the Standard Choice Offer, or on "choice" service (e.g. affirmative selection). The breakdown is currently available only for Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio and Columbia Gas of Ohio.

Dominion East Ohio's data still reports an aggregate amount of SCO and choice customers.

Due to the new metric, comparisons to the migration levels of December 31, 2011 will not be compiled by Matters, as the prior data did not include the new breakout.

The only territory where a past comparison is useful is at Duke Energy Ohio, where an auction is not used for default service.

As of March 31, 2012, the Duke Energy Ohio gas territory had 114,000 residential shoppers, versus 122,000 as of December 31, 2011, a decline of 8,000 shoppers.
